good choice. the malawian cichlids will outgrow it soon. may want to upsize the filtration for the current setup too. have fun in your expansion

Thanks for sharing pics!
IMHO, your African cichlid tank is way too small with so many fishes! ...at least 10? Most will eventually die away thru fights in that small environment...until couple fishes left. You may wanna consider QUICKLY in reducing stocks or upgrade into a 3ft tank. |

Today just make arrangement to purchase a 4ft glass tank, cant wait for it to arrived. i have more than 30 cichilds in the tank haha, cant resist of buying whenever i go to lfs.
My largest butterefori previouly is the tank king but after i introduce a male m.auratus half the size he seems to be sharing the empire. I thought of diying a filter for the bigger tank Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

A 4ft tank with so many cichlids would require good filtration. Get a canister or a OHF at least. Overkill filtration is ok too, better than insufficient, hence your idea of DIY filter can be a complement to other filtration. Would suggest NOT to buy anymore cichlids atm until yr tank arrive. Cheers.

Nice and spacious....for the moment!
BTW why no gravel? ...all coral chips only....Also, you need to invest on another filtration system. |
