Arofanatics Infraction System
The infraction system is implemented because the reputation system cannot be effectively used for controlling users that dont follow the rules.
How it works? Basically, the infraction system works like a typical warning system. When the moderator give an infraction to a user, a certain amount of points will be given to the user. Once the user accumulated enough points, he/she will have a more restricted usage in the forum. Some of the infraction points will expire eventually and the user will regain his/her usual rights. There are 3 levels of restriction Level 1 - 10 points accumulated Lose avatar and posting rights in buy&sell and chat forum Level 2 - 20 points accumulated Unable to view buy&sell and chat forum, PM limit restricted to 10, unable to use rep power Level 3 - 30 points accumulated Automatic ban These are the proposed penalties and their infraction points. This is by no means a complete list and will be changed from time to time. Off Topic Chatting - (P)=3 Quoting Whole Post - (P)=3 Hijack of sales thread - (P)=4 Inappropriate language - Flaming (P)=3 Inappropriate language - Threatening of others (P)=5 Inappropriate language - Vulgarities (P)=5 Inappropriate language - Vulgarities in a threatening manner (P)=8 Inappropriate language - Insulting others despite of repeated warnings (P)=8 Posting inappropriate links/pictures (P)=5 Selling in non-buy & sell forums (P)=3 Selling of illegal items (P)=10 Selling on behalf (P)=10 Spammed advertisements (P)=5 Spammed advertisements across multiple forums (P)=10 Posting smilies only posts at aquatic forums (P)=2 Not adhering to the no consecutive "UP" guideline (P)=2 Non-aquatic pictures in gallery (P)=3 Aquatic pictures in wrong gallery (P)=1 Flooding (P)=3 Not following bidding guidelines (P)=4 Openly challenge infraction (P)=8 These infractions have an expiry time between 3 months to 18 months depending on the seriousness of the offence. If the user accumulates 10 points or more before expiry, he/she will face restricted use in this forum. If you think that the infraction given is not appropriate then you may PM the respective moderator to give your reason. If the issue cannot be resolved, the moderator may bring it up to the administrators which will have the final decision. We do not want to see users starting threads/posts whining about their infraction. Another infraction will be given once we see such threads/posts regardless of whether you have a valid case or not. We would also like to hear the views from the members and finetune the system if necessary. Please voice up or ask questions now before implementation if you have any doubts. Note : The infraction system has been officially implemented with effect from now. Last edited by BarraCuda™; 05-11-2006 at 11:00 PM. |

for flaming
issit flaming of another forum member or flaming in general? does criticising politicians over their's silly actions count as flaming? isnt it abit grey ths area? and an example say a buy/seller dispute... where buyers and seller put up threads to "clarify" situation and by some unfortunate circumstance become some faction wars between forumers are these considered as flaming? when its actually an open exchange between two forummers? |

Think we should post this as a sticky thread. New or/and inactive members will be able to read it too when they logged in.
