Default What is the one thing to check?

Let's say you have set up a marine aquarium and have cycled it etc. However, Everytime you introduce some hardy fishes, they all die very quickly within a day. What is the first thing to check?

I understand there are a number of parameters to look at. Is there one gadget that one can buy to measure all the important parameters instead of individual test kits?

Thanks for your advice.

The first thing to check is ammonia. BTW how did you cycle the water?

I checked all the parameters ok. However, the corals, clown fish etc didn't last more than two days in the tank. Sigh.
