check your impeller
bro, is the pump head cranking with noise? is the impeller working(spinning)? better put the pump head and try on a basin of water to check/test first, see if this remedy works

An O-ring, also known as a packing, or a toric joint, is a mechanical gasket in the shape of a torus; it is a loop of elastomer with a disc-shaped cross-section, designed to be seated in a groove and compressed during assembly between two or more parts, creating a seal at the interface.
Basically, it seals up the gap between the body and head, creating a waterproof seal. More information on o-rings: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O-ring Most o-rings are made of natural/synthetic rubber, silicone or composites. Most do lose their elasticity over time. Hence, it is rather common that o-ring loses its sealing capability over time and you have to replace the o-rings. You can find the o-ring being attached to the side of the head; just imagine putting a rubber band on the head, just that the colour of the band is black. It looks like something on the first picture in the link: http://www.shop.trilbytropicals.com/...?categoryId=24 The Eheim filter manual suggests you to lubricate the o-rings. New replacement o-rings are pre-lubricated. |
