Default Brown Jelly Diseases

Hi bros, one of my hammer seems to have this problem, how does this problem arises? Is it before I bought the coral it already have it or is it because of wrong placement? My water parameters / temp are all ok. When I bought the coral, I did make sure that it's in good condition before buying. Hmm.. Will it affect my other hammers in the same tank?

diff to say why yr hammer contracted this diease , though most of the time it is attributed to sudden water parameter flutuations. take a plier or cutter and saw off the branch affected as it will pass on to the rest of yr hammer collection. The best would be to accompany with a Iodine Bath, I strongly recommend Kent Marine TECH D .

Hi bros, they are like brown jelly, then it will be left with skeleton the next day. I'm using MH light. Will it only affect that particular branch of hammer or it will affect the entire tank's hammers?

Is it a brached hammer or a single large skeleton hammer? New coral tends to suffer photo shock if introduce to intense lighting without proper acclimation. U r using MH so this possibility is quite high.A pic will be helpful here Bro. I doubt is brown jelly anyway.

Yes bro, I agree with you also, I assume that its brown jelly disease is because I'm not really into the coral diseases, I just spotted some matching symtoms and assume that it is brown jelly. But come to think of it now, it could be the lighting shock you mentioned earlier, because it's quite impossible for them to be infected with brown jelly diseases since they are rather healthy when I purchase them and the hammers in my tank are all doing fine too.

Hi mansiz,
If the light shock is too serious, the zooxanthellae would leave the coral, your animal will start to bleach & die. If not too serious they will recover in time.

If it is really brown jelly, better to frag it off if it is a branched hammer or it will spread, i got it before.
