Sorry for the loss ! The culprit is definitely the suckerfish ! Ranchu being slow swimmer will definitely cannot out-swim the sucker. Normally we will not put suckerfish together with any goldfishes.

And the Clown Loach too. They have spike on each side of the face. You can see these when the fish is disturbed and the white spike will extend out.

Goldfish is best mix with other goldfish and not any other tropical fish.

Chinese algae eaters are very nasty fish and will nip the goldfish tail once in a while. Though they are vegetarian but they are not strict vegetarian like the monk. Try feeding them tubifex worms and they will their stomach filled leaving the algae intact. If your tank has good green algae, don't worry, the greedy goldfish will consume it. A diet of algae is the best colour enhancer than any supreme brand of fish food.

you right... did noticed one of my chinese algae eater likes to swim behind my goldfish... seems like trying to nip its tail.

recently, one of my female red cap oranda got badly damaged tail fin and ventral fin(almost fully recover)... now i know who the culprit is.
