NEA award 2 yr $10 million contract to advertising firm to fight dengue.
Read in news the other day that NEA just award a yearly $5M contract to an advertising firm to raise awareness. 2nd year subject to renewal and is also $5M.
I think this $10m just award more subcon to do check and fogging. Advertisement on radio and tv will also be much lesser than the $10m. Pay $10m just for advertising is too much. Budget too much.. seem always the case for many gov agency. |

Singapore, in its fight against dengue, has awarded a contract worth up to $10 million to an advertising firm for year-round campaigns against the deadly disease. The contract from the National Environment Agency (NEA) to DDB Worldwide is made up of two parts: $5 million for campaign costs from now till next March and another $5 million should the contract be extended another year. The year-round campaign against the worsening epidemic starts tomorrow and there will be no let-up even during the months when the Aedes mosquito is lying low. The disease peaks during the hotter months between May and October. |

DDB Worldwide Communications Group Inc., known internationally as DDB, is a worldwide marketing communications network. It is owned by Omnicom Group Inc, one of the world's largest advertising holding companies (revenues US$12.69B according to Advertising Age in April 2008).[1] The owners of the international advertising agency groups Doyle Dane Bernbach, Needham Harper and BBDO merged their shareholdings in 1986 to form the holding company Omnicom. At that point Doyle Dane Bernbach and Needham Harper merged their worldwide network agency operations to become DDB Needham. Since 1996 that network has been known as DDB Worldwide. -------------------- ang mo MNC |

What can this advertising org. do that a local company cannot? Was there any open tender? What is the requisite for being awarded the contract?
The public should be informed as $10 million is a huge sum of public money to be spent. Was there a necessity to keep this project a secret until the contract was awarded? |
