Hi All,

Anyone of you out there experience the pain of immediate loss after buying your favorite Aro?

I just loss my Chilli Red after just 5 days... Sob sob..

Years back I lost a red after it jumped out from the hood of the tank...

Streetsmart73, I got her a new 4 ft tank but got a little impatient to wait for a week to run the water. All these while she is in a 2.5ft holding tank. So what I did was transferring half the tank of water from my other 6ft tank and fill the balance with tap water... Thinking that by doing so will be safe but who knows... This is a painful lesson... Don't buy fish when tank is not ready... Because you can't resist the temptation of putting her in the tank when the water is not ready... Hai... Time to save up for my next purchase.

Worst still, have to go collect her death cert as it was not ready when I bought her.

honest, while cycling a new tank, we really need to be patient.

to perform a simple test before releasing your prized aro into the new environment, release some live feeders into the new tank and monitor the survival rate for at least a few days.

throughout the entire cycling process, full aeration too.

There're product, readily available for immediate transfer after WC. Why aren't an option?

I think most properly is PH shock, cause tank 6 ft ph might be huge difference with tank 2.5 ft.The method of how you release the fish might be wrong bro..

Thanks for the advice guys... Noticed that there are some slime coating on the body of the aro.. Is that due to PH shock? Anyway, my angelfish survive though.. By the way, you guys might think that I'm a newbie to this hobby but nope, have been keeping fishes and aro for many years now.. I guess it is not a matter of how experience but how patience you are... Haha. A moment of foolishness can bloody cost you. Just sharing my ordeal with the bros here. Don't make the same mistakes as me. Cheers guys. Have to get over it.

Did u climitzed the fish before u dump in?
Even if age water, or mix, u need to slowly change its water

Mine even if I tranfer tank w 30% old water, 70% new tap water,
I slowly add the new tank water into bag. Till 50% water in bag already new tank water. And fish breathing ok, then I release.

My media half is new.

Also ok....most my fish takes abt 15-20 min to adapt new water....
All ok...

But y 5 days then die.....
Got eat for the 5days?
