Anyone knows the approximate extra electricity costs that will be incurred running this unit 24 X 7?

thanks.
All chiller are meant to run 24x7, however, more electricity is used during the kick in, while the rest of the time, it is basically in idle state(using minimal electricity). It very much depends on the kick in period of the chiller you are using. As a rule of thumb, try to get a chiller which is meant for a higher capacity than your tank. The kick in period will be shorter as compared to a chiller that is just nice for 2ft tank. Ventilation of the chiller and room temperature must also be taken into consideration. Lesser frequencies of kick-ins if the room temperature is lower. Your thermostat setting also plays a part. A lower temperature setting will take a longer period to chill.

Certain brand of chillers consume more power than others. This you have to do some homework before getting one. For eg, my chiller, teco brand with power rating of 220W kick in for 30mins and rest for an hour. As compared to one with power rating of 280W that kicks in 15mins and rest fir 30mins. Both are used for 2ft tank and the periods of kick in and out are the same, but Teco's electricity consumption is lower=> saving in electricity bill.
