Default Disappearing caudal fin

Hi all,

Some months back, I noticed the caudal fin of my XB had been slowly "disappearing" (Becoming smaller and there are no obvious jagged signs of fin rot). I treated it with Melafix daily for a week but it didn't seem to help. A bro here suggested using aquarium salt for 4 weeks (Water change add salt in), again it didn't seem to help. Due to the fact that I have rays in the tank, I am not too adventurous to try every fin-rot medication out there in the market and all aquarium owner's advice seem to point back to this 2 methods.

What else can I do?
