Default Newbie question abt chiller

Hi all shifus,
A few question:
1) do I need to on my chiller 24/7?
2) is setting a timer at 12hr adviceable?
3) if the chiller is off, will the water bypass it n into the tank?
FYI, tank size is 2ft with aN external filter.
Thx in advance.

Your chiller got temperature sensor, you can set to your desired temperature, and it will turns off when the water temperature has reached 1 degree celcius below the set point.

Water is driven by the power head into the chiller, hence no matter whether you turns on or off the chiller, water will still be flowing thru' the chiller as long as your power head is operating.

Just like thermostat in an air con. When the temp detected rises above your preset temp, chilling will kick start. Likewise for temp detected falls till the preset temp, the chilling will halt.

make sure the flow rate is good enough or your chiller might not work properly. if your tank inhabitants are expensive, i suggest you install a heater as a backup. just in case the chiller thermostat go haywire and continue chilling, your heater will go into action and save your tank. hope you are not using resun

Keeping it on 24/7 will have lesser breakdown. Try not to off it if there is no need to,even on water change or maintenance of tank.

Just like your fridge, imagine on n off everyday
