Default Any advise pertaining to camera /equipment maintenance?

Well, I see threads after threads of cool pic posted here but what abt maintaining the equipment?

For me, after each shooting (mainly for my fishes and indoor), I just put it back to a plastic box. Will this be good enough? Is there a need for cleaning etc.. ?

I really know nuts abt maintaining them. Anyone care to advice?

Thanks

ben

I guess the basic is to clean them once in a while, store your equipment in cool dry places and throw in some Silica gel blue crystals to keep the moisture out.

not good idea... silica may be too dry...

best between 45-55% humidity

too wet got fungus
too dry plastics will crack

for me i bought a dry cabinet... 2~4w of power only.... compared to 35w for a canister filter or 70w for a powerhead....

so dry cabinet is really a good investment...

as for cleaning of camera.... wipe with dry tower...

as for lense... try not to clean at all, get a blower... blower away dust and such... if lense got stains, use a lense towel to clean a bit...

if lense got hard stains, there is a pen cleaner [forgot the brand] the pen rubs dry powder on to the lense. and a brush to brush away the power.... follow by a blower would be good

Hi guys,

For the dry box, is brand a concern? Is there also any sizing requirements?
Not familiar with camera stuffs. Please advice.

Thanks.

there are only a few brands of dry-boxes around.
am-pro, digicabi, akurui, bboss-something...
varing sizes, from 20litres to the 300++
a 30 litres should cost you around less than a hundred.
go carreforre buy, always got good deals
or alternatively head to mscolor at AMK, also quite cheap.

only thing u need to think abt is the size u want, cause that will determine the price and power consumption (not much lah actually)
and the meter type. 1 is digital cost easily 50-100 more. the other is analog. got lots of comments say the digital is more accurate but IMO nvm lah that little bit of error.
