Default External VS Built in Chiller Thermostat

Which is better to save electricity & temperature accuracy?

It will be better to use an external thermosat then to rely on the bulit in thermosat. U will get a better temperature accuracy of the tank water temp.
In the long run, it will help to save some cost on electricity as the chiller does not turn on n off too often.

In term of accuracy wise, I would say the external thermostat since the sensor is in the tank. Real time with no delay.

Any idea how much is the market price for an external thermostat? Wonder if can find it in LFS?

Actually, accuracy and energy saving do not work hand to hand. Why so? To get stable and accurate temperature, the chiller have to run continously to ensure the temp is constant, meaning more electricity. Chillness is loss due to environment and equipment factor like lighting, pump heat, surface area etc. So this must be compensated now and then with compressor running. When compressor restart, that's where high ampera is drawn. more restart, more power.

To save electricity on the other hand, you need to do proper insulation to the wall of tank(back and side, not for viewing), LED lighting, power efficient water pump etc. This will result in slower loss of temp.

There are in the market temperature controller which can preset the temp and the temp range where compressor will restart(eg, 3-4 deg C difference against preset temp before compressor restart to get back reset temp). The longer the restart temp difference, the less frequency the compressor will restart.

If you know how to clean the fan and condensor regular through brushing and high pressure air blowing, efficiency of the chiller will maintain tip top condition.
