PM Lee set on retaking Aljunied, will not abandon GRC
THE People's Action Party (PAP) will fight to win back Aljunied GRC.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who is also PAP secretary-general, made the pledge on Sunday to party activists at its annual convention. 'We will not abandon Aljunied. We will not abandon our activists in Aljunied GRC, in the five branches,' he said. I get the feeling Aljunied's the beginning, it's gone for good, but more GRCs may go to the Opp in the next GE. The mood seems that way, eg Josephine Teo mentioned her first time was a walkover but in future, expect every seat to be contested, no more easy parachuting into a constituency. This was said in the context that they identified new future leaders and start them in grassroot work early. Hopefully we get good guys but the big money seems to attract the small guys with big mouths.
