thanks for all your input and as I have quite a no of rainbow fishes inside my tank, I am thinking to just put in more rocks to boast up the ph but leave the ada soil behind.
Resetting the whole tank will be the last option as I do not have any tank to house my current fishes. The only thing I can do is to scoop up the soil slowly but it will stir up the whole tank and might affect the fishes as well. |

U can still put the fishes inside a pail with tank water and airstone whilst you overhaul the tank (except filtration). Would take you a few hrs max unless its a 5ft and above tank. Your fishes should still be ok. I took about 10 hrs when I overhaul my 5ft tank....alone.

malawi are not nip bite..they are aggressive and territorial fishes...ur rummy nose and rainbow fish wont stand a chance..better to give away
