AROWANA FANATICS CLUB EVENT: “The aquatic view through my own eyes…”

Why is Arofanatics Club conducting this event?

Fundamentally, we hope to spruce up the interest and rekindle the hobby that we're in love with/ or once loved or even some says poisoned with. (Maybe the poison part - its true, for which it runs in the blood), haha!

Anyway if you are an AF member, you know for yourself why you are one.

• Do you recall the times where you duly and promptly do your water-change for your tank without fail? (Considering that you don't even do any house-work?)
• Do you remember the days where you were overseas, but deep-down you were worried about the well-being of your fishes?
• Do you have the same encounter as me that you toss around the bed and cant sleep so you will decide to spend some time observing your fish tank?
• At times where you are so stressed at work, but then when you're back as home, just by looking at the fishes swimming, that small action lifted your mood?
• Have you ever plan to install IP cameras, (not to spy what your maid is doing at home), but your fishes?
• Do you have the always-have-to-find-fish-to-bag syndrome when you visit LFS and "backside-get-itchy" syndrome?
• Do you run random thoughts through your mind on topics like how to continuously improve the setup / how to achieve good water?
• Making research and considered yourself studying harder than your then GCE O' levels chemistry , to understand the water chemistry of fish keeping, terms like nitrates, nitrite etc?
• Taking the bold step, even to extend of doing autopsy of your beloved fishes when they were fallen; to know what went wrong exactly...

The list is not exhaustive, it is just some questions that flashed across my mind when I am writing this event introduction... I am sure there are all sorts of funny questions there will pop up for you... so honestly just answer them...

Personally, I like these 2 internet acronym, GPGT and SIC. What is that? some would asked.... ; it is Got Picture Got Talk and Sharing Is Caring. In this season of sharing, it is time to "show-hand / show-case" your collection and spread some loves. (or poison). Often as said, a picture will tells a thousand words, so do whip out your camera or smart phone camera function... snap some good pictures which made an impression or at least you are impressed with , do send them in to share with us, it is a good platform to see how impressive the work can get and how creative our fellow members are!

Ground Rules:

• Photo(s) must be taken by contributor
• No restriction on imaging device
• 5 entries max/limitation per AF member (the first 5 entries as reference)
• Photo(s) entry submitted must be at least 800x600 in pixel ; can be photo enhanced
• No water-marking by contributor, AFC shall watermark the submission during consolidation

Photography Type:
Anything that is Aquatic related and photo(s) submitted must be accompanied with caption. For example:

• a tank photo shot accompanied with a caption , or
• a livestock photo shot accompanied with a caption , or
• a livestock photo shot (before & after with TLC) accompanied with a caption , or
• a visit to our Associate Member's Location to shoot any activity/fish, accompanied with a caption

Voting/Judging will be by individual feel of the photo and caption.
Participants can take their own fish or even encouraged to visit our Associate Member's location to shoot any activity/fish (Eg. People squatting down picking L46 Pleco, SGBros shifting tanks, N30 building Tanks etc). For awareness, both FHCS and Betta club within AF are conducting activities in the pipeline (See the related section), you can take them as opportunities/platform to snap/shoot some photos. On the other hand, we will not accept photos of fish or locations that are not of our Associate Members (eg. named activities, named locations or named fishes from non-AFC farm/ associates)

Judging:
All submitted photos will be posted in AF for closed voting in due course.
The top 5 voted photos will then be polled in AFC Comm members sub forum whereby the AFC comm members and AF Mods will have a final vote on the top 3 winners. Voting/Judging will be by individual feel of the photo and caption.

Prizes:

• 1st Prize - Canon Powershot G16 Camera

• 3rd Prize - Seiko Diver Watch (Model: SNZF17) with "Bond Style" NATO Strap

+ a winner's badge below the nickname for the winners

Lucky Draw:

• All participants will be placed in a lucky draw
• One lucky winner will get a prize
• If Lucky Draw Winner is an existing AFC member, he will get next year's AFC renewal fee (worth $60) waived plus a $100 NTUC Gift Voucher
• If Lucky Draw Winner is not an existing AFC Member, he will get an immediate new AFC membership (worth $160) for this work-year of 2015/2016

Submission method:
via email to AFC@arofanclub.org in format below (Each submission will be formally acknowledged) after which the entries will be consolidated for closed voting.

Email Title: AFC EVENT: “the aquatic view through my own eyes" – “YOUR AF NICKNAME”
Email Body: Attachment of your photo(s) + captions
Sign off: with “YOUR AF NICKNAME” / Real Name


Due to nature of closed voting in the first instance. At the end of event, all entries will be consolidated and published on a show-case thread with contributor's name/nickname in appreciation of participation.

AFC reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of this event; In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, the conduct or results of the event, or any other matter relating to the event, the decision of AFC shall be final and unchallengeable. Submitted entries are not withdrawable and AF has the rights to use as its copyright property.
