dun bother to find out la. it doesnt help much for the betta, usually end up dead...and may carry disease. water change is still the best

Recently I had 1 or 2 encounter. The fish was eating well in the morning. Then it died within the next 6 hours and within 1 hour the whole fish is covered with a "cob web" kind stuff. Perhaps there was a sympton I missed? Color of dead fish is still good but stiff. " case of die standing". Anyone care to share.

the only reason i can think of is that the cobweb stuff
is the fish pooh.. white pooh thats floating around and most prob the fish died of internal infection. my male blue CTs died that way... |

The fish likely went through a sudden shock either a temperature or ammonia. Unusual for a betta to die suddenly unless the water change you done in the morning is not good quality or somehow deadly toxic introduced. As for the cob web, it's fungus feeding on the slime coat of the fish. Normally these bacteria are fast to react on any dead organisms. Within the next 48 hours, half of the fish will be consumed. However, it's a sign that the fish is under some form of stress to have a thick layer of slime. Do check on other fishes. |
