Congrats on a successful spawn. Share my experiences.....first thing to look out for once hatching started is to see the fries body are straight. Also watch out for any foam on the side of the basin or tub....some eggs that are not fertilized by now will be mouldy and foul the water. Watch out for water that seems a bit cloudy....if cloudy...do partial water change...make sure temperature of old and new water the same.

Eggs as long as wet will survive. I usually if need transport eggs just keep a low level water...very low such that I use kitchen towels and cover basin...the kitchen towels will absorb all the water...bottom line as long as eggs stay moist will survive the journey. We even have instances of buying eggs from Japan and ship through courier service. Hope this enlighten and help new aspiring breeders.

Don't really know about temp affecting ratio of male/female, but I know salinity does...I uses baking soda in my water and I do find differences in sex ratio with and without baking soda...nothing that I can substantiate scientifically...just sharing my experiences/observation.

Thanks uncle Richard, unfortunately I was abit greedy and did not siphon out all eggs(looked fertile) last night. As of today, water has fouled and the spawn is gone. Really isn't as simple as initially thought! I am looking to get another batch soon. Gotta learn from mistakes!

Thanks for the tip uncle Richard, David suggested that too, but as the Kan cheong Newbie that I am, I was afraid the new water added in that might "shock the egg"??

How is the hatch rate for this method so far?

Also, any tips on how to maintain the larvae between hatching and free swimming?

Thanks alot!
