Due to the heavy downpour earlier in the morning, we rearranged the program line up.


Representatives from Qian Hu updated the guests on the newest products from Ocean Free.



This Hydra Filtron is an interesting new product from OF. They had incorporated their HydraPure technology into a canister filter. On top of the HydraPure addition, this canister is filled with many features to enhance the canister filtration experience. Filled with 3DM premium media, easy priming, quick start, low power consumption, high rate filtration. Thumbs up!

Density comparison of filter media. 300g of different filter media were filled into the measuring cylinders. The OF 3DM filter media takes up the most volume, indicating the lowest density. This means more pore space within each bead of filter media, more space for beneficial bacteria to grow. Also means less weight, which is important for users of overhead filters.

Absorption comparison of filter media. 200ml of water was added to 250ml of filter media. The cylinder filled with 3DM had the lowest final volume (270ml). This shows that the 3DM is able to absorb more water compared to other filter media. The capacity to absorb more water indicates higher porosity of the media, higher specific surface area of the media. Basically, more space to hold more beneficial bacteria within the same volume of filter media.

In simpler terms, a compartment filled with the 3DM filter media is able to offer much more space to grow more beneficial bacteria.
