Added more wood, Due to the narrow width of the tank and the OHF i changed the 2 60cm t5 lights (accident waiting to happen) to a 142cm LED submersible aro tanning light. Might want to stuff the K leaves somewhere else like the filter or mesh bag. Its quite hard to clean the tank with the leaves around. |

Heard many times in LFS that customers talking and comparing products.. then someone said "this one will make the water more black... so better.."
Black water biotope is not just abt the color of the water. |

I definitely wouldn't dare use the word biotope on this tank. It's far off. I call it a South American black water inspired tank. First time I tried something like this. I added some panda Cory as well, since I found the tank empty. Was actually going for some spotted headstanders but they were sold out when I went back.

Update with imgur after photobucket turned pirate. Tannin does have an effect on soft water fish. They are more active and have good appetite. This pic is after a water change and new leaves added after I came back from a cruise over the weekend. The Adonis ate up all the Ketapang leaves while I was gone. |

Apologies. The picture is too big and the edit button is missing.

That looks pretty good! The fish compliment the set up well, and the leaves are a nice touch. It's a shame the earlier photos are no longer visible; I would've liked to see your progress.
