Fibre glass on cement is the best. Epoxy paint will not last. Tiles need good water proofing if not cement can be toxic.

Yes, fibre glass coating over cement wall and base. Very durable, waterproof and will not peel.

Just in December 2013, the fibre glass coating separated off from 1 wall in one of the ponds. When we drained the pond, the separation also involved the base as well. I had to spent $$ to remove the fibreglass, treat the concrete and then apply epoxy paint. I did not want to put in fibreglass again, considering the cost, time and risk of moving fish around. I am not sure if others have similar experience. The other 2 ponds look ok so far. |

My epoxy paint also peel off as I noticed the ray somehow good at it. I've seen fiberglass surface and epoxy paint finishing doing well in koi pond for many years.....maybe it is ray that peel it! |

in BKK all the ponds are tiled.. those pond with bare cement finishing won't last long cos the cement will disintergate over time..
IMHO the best way is to tile up the pond but here is too costly.. |

I chose black fibre glass. So the pond maker built the cement pond and coated the fibre glass after the cement had dried up. That was the first coat. After the first coat had dried up, he applied the second coat over the first, then the third coat.
