There are groups including those related to Islamic terror movement, whom will want to drag a nation into a conflict. The conflict can be within the country, not necessary overseas. It's all about power and greed, never for the better of mankind.

Singapore needs to be vigilant and prepare for terrorist attack and all kind emergencies. So there is no doubt we must not let our guard down. But to be involved into some big boys power play, how long and how much can we expense our limited resources. We do not have that level of deep pocket of these big boys.

Dun think this is a rash decision. We have always been involved since decade ago. I remembered my bmt oc went to Iraq (I think). Did not lose his life but lost lots of hairs. Said to be lack of salt, dun understand why lack of salt though. He indeed got promoted to major after captain Long Long.
