you can't go wrong with pikes! they are amazing

Crenicichla Lepidota is an easy common species to go for.

Nowadays, the cheapest and most common pike cichlid around in shops is C. lucius - only S$5.00 for a 2" specimen. The best thing about it is, this species is one of the most brightly coloured of all Saxatilis pikes, with brilliant red on the fins (although this red coloration only develops once it gets to 3.5" or more)! C. lucius, like most, if not all, Saxatilis pikes, is fairly hardy as well.
