Don't forget Mr MBT said HDB lost $1bil last year (hope I didn't get the fig wrong)...

In the 80s, home owners pays off their flat in 5yrs and most are shy to even mention it. Back then, most pays mere few hundreds a month.

Today, you and me will need 20-30yrs, some even 35yrs, to pay off our mortgage and a good handful are paying $1k or more per month.

After slogging all your pawned life, we shd also remb, current Minister of National Development said we shd retire in JB. He is now trying to tell pple he will try to bring down prices. So when u retire, you really need to stay in a aged home in JB, the rent collected from your flat may be able to pay for it.

But politics aside. I would think, if M'sia seriously builds a nice retirement village, it shd be rather popular. I recall they did talk about it and they shared that Japan does have such retirement villages. Imagine living our older years in retirement villages than in old folks home, where we could be surrounded by nice vegetation, nice cool and fresh air, a town of it's own. I would welcome that idea.

More opp players may not be good (i.e. Presidential Election).

When I first contributed CPF, e promise is, I will get it back in full when I turned 55yrs old.

A government who can't keep their words, cannot be trusted! Period!
