The bent back of the aro, is usually due to a muscular spasm of the muscles. Such a phenomena is often due to a temporary neuro-muscular dysfunction, resulting from some form of a shock. This could have been brought about by some form of physical shock/fright, or it could have been the water quality that's at fault. Have you check your water parameters? Don't worry too much, as this is not uncommon with the aros, and I've seen a few of these. Most of the time, they'd recover all by themselves after a few weeks or so. Cheers, Kenny |

Great to hear this!! My water parameter is ok, so I should remove the tankmate to further reduce stress? My main concern is the diet. It does not want to eat.

Nah, if the water parameters are alright, I think you just need to keep things at status quo.
Just make sure that the tank hygiene is well maintained, and be patient. Don't worry about its appetite, as it'll improve as its condition improves. Be patient. Cheers, Kenny |

Will try to stress the fish less, regular water change and add sufficient salt to lessen the aro system. Thanks again. |

Feeding Food Sticks?
Hi Guys,
I have been starving my 7 inches pearl for 3 days in order for him to accept food sticks. Recently, it has been accepting food sticks, but it only take like 7 to 10 food sticks everyday. Would that enough for a 7 inch pearl? I afraid it will effect its growing rate Thank you for sharing |

Sorry to infringe on this thread
Hi Bro Hobbit, this muscular spasm is common even for bigger aros?
Yesterday my fish were all ok but this morning, my parents heard a sound and then saw my RTG the tail portion of the back seem to be slightly above water. You can see it is really straining itself when I force it to dive lower into the tank. I initially suspected there is some hard knock against the motor pump but no external injuries leh.... When it swims the tail portion is like curving upwards not to the extreme lah but noticeable.. Oh forgot to mention it is in a comm tank. It hasn't eaten today, usually it whacks and snatches food from the more aggressive aros. Need help man, I am really worried. Any bro with advice? Water condition is fine since the other 2 aros are perfectly healthy..... Quote:

Just a quick update of my observation.
When I return from work, it seems the aro is slightly less curved and it can now swim to the bottom and chase discus. But in the morning when I woke up, the aro seems to curved back to its original state. And the same thing repeats itself again. Really wonder if it will really recover. Last night, it took one bite of MP but split it out shortly. Perhaps this is the first step for it to start eating. I have tried to contact Panda (my aro is a Singa SR) but it seems ........ Looks like the aro is not so stress now, perhaps I can take a pic tonight and share with the bros here. |
