While this may not answer your question, I think you'll find it interesting reading.

garlic may be more useful for controlling an outbreak than for eliminating the parasite from a system.

Allicin is probably the active compound for the anthelmintic effect of garlic.
"Garlic as an Anti-Nematodal agent" in Aquarium Fish Nov.1995 showed that garlic has properties to inhibit proliferation of nematodes in the digestive tract of Pterophylum scalare. Recent experiment by Terry Fairfield revealed that garlic does help to control Capillaria sp. in at least two separate species of cichlids (i.e. Discus and Angelfish).
