Driving a T5 on a VHO system is used by some planted aquaria hobbyists.
This helps to maximise the output from the T5 globes.
However, as overdriving any globe would do, the lifespan of the globe is significantly reduced.

It's fine for T5's because a replacement globe costs $20 at most.
However with MH, i do recall each bulb costing quite a hefty sum.
Overdriving it may be pretty costly no?

The primary use of eballast is to reduce of heat and high-drawn current from the start. hence, (hopefully)it is an "energy-saver" in this aspect. It has it pros and cons on both camp. It is your choice and balance your both pocket.. (I have committed in E-ballast liao so obviously, I want to save on my recurring cost )

Now serving in KL HQ so can't kopi with you unless they send me down SG for meeting lah.

I too like the "cool" running feeling with the eballast.

By the way, marine stuff was so expensive in KL. What to do when all the coral are transist from SG. The equipment price is so ex also ...
