Since you have shrimps, use a piece of sponge to cover the HOF inlet so the shrimps are not sucked it.
even with sponge shrimps still m ay get inside, whenever, I wash the HOF i can find at least 10 baby shrimp inside.

Yes thats true.. I found baby guppies inside.. Then decided to tie a layer of wool outside the water inlet part.. And the problem is solved.

most hang on filter cannot sit perfectly on that "black rim"..

i have a nisso tank and the black rim hinders my HOF .
so the next best solution is external filter..coz submersible filter creates current..

seems like hang on filter is a good option...
OHF is bulky... and not cheaper then HOF.
Cannister filter a bit eX.
under water filter will turn fish tanks into washing machines.
Air bubble filter not good enuf.....

This statement is not true bro. It all depend svery much on your tank size and the flowrate of the internal filter. Go to LFS and look at the range of various filters and their flowrates to get a better understanding. All filters can be used in all tank sizes, you just have to get one with the preferred flowrate and also check on your own requirements.

Or you can also direct the flow of the filter away. Its a little unfair to say that all of the internal filters are washing machines.

You can even make adjustments like directing the flow of the filter against the glass wall and such.

If you dun want to see those pipes and such, HOF, IOS, sump is best. Otherwise, use plants to hide the pipings, can also be very nice.
