Is there a possibility that any of ur new bought fish was not properly QT before u add in ur tank, causing ur stable population to go haywire???

1 of my nana's rhizome seems to be nibbled by something and the outer layer is gone. exposing the inner stem and the fiber like things and this nana seems to be dying... could it be the EEs tat are nibbling on it??
