ya, I used to struggle with that too... but I overcome that when I am placed in a position between "want" or "need".

Can get the following for nikon
D60 Kit (18-55mm VR) $950 Commander Unit - Nikon SU-800 Wireless Speedlight Commander Unit - $450 Nikon SB-600 - $370 total $1770 or D90 Kit (18-105mm VR) - $1600 Nikon SB-600 - $370 total $1970 i would prefer D90. the ISO noise control is comparable to D700 and D3. It definitely wins D300... for $200 more, you get a better camera body, a better kit lense with VR, HD Video mode and you do not need a Commander Unit [wireless flash is controlled by D90 body] infact, the iso on D90 is so good... you may not even need flash for aquarium photography [this is provided that you have sufficient lighting] |

else if you really wanna get everything within $1500
try clubsnap.com for secondhand stuff must test properly though D70s $300-400 Kit lens $200-250 [or 50mm f/1.8 $100] Nikon SB-600 - $200 Nikon SB-600 - $200 Nikon SB-600 - $200 total from $1000 if you can get a good deal [iso for D70s sucks... so you need more sb600 to fill up your aquarium |

bro, if you're a newbie, try canon 1000D... 10.1 MP DSLR...
Just bought it last saturday at AMKHub.. 18-55mm IS Kit+EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM(Zoom Lens)+4GB SDHC+Canon Bag+LCD Screen Protector, altogether $1065... If you're new, you should get this... Its worth it. Or just wait for SITEX which is coming this month's end... |

Now is G10 already lah. Also, I think Speedlite 430ex Mk II is sufficient and cost less. 580MkII is a little overkill. |
