I dont think it is because of vocanic activity. i think the simple reason is that sul. shrimps are tropical shrimps. whereas cherry shrimps and CRS come from cooler places like china and japan.

Sulawasi is from indonesia, a tropical country with higher temperature right? That explains why Sulawasi fits higher temperature than low temp. So far, it appears like only one type of Sulawasi are doing fine. If I'm not wrong, it's called Matano or something like that.

Because the wall mount tank is enclosed type, the heat from the T5 lighting cannot escape easily so the water gets heated up.

i agree with the higher temperature, but what causes the high pH requirements? we all know that SEA are full of rainforests which the fallen leafs contributes to the tannic / low pH waters

i think it may be because of the rocks around the lake. if the rocks are limestone, the pH sure shoot up like mad.

Sulawesi has many lakes and the different species of the shrimps come from different lake. One of the lake, Lake Towuti, has maximum pH is 8.2, water temperature is 26.5°C to 28°C, 28°C is found at the shallow water near shore.

so can i assume that a tank will not be able to accomodate both the sakura/crs and the sulawesi shrimps since they require opposite tank conditions.
i have sakuras but their environment is something like 22 deg . i was thinking of adding some sulawesi , but if what u said is correct then it will not do well in my tank.
pl clarify what is best.
thnks.
