First of all thank you guys for all the compliments.
Tay, believe it or not there are some sinners over here in the West! The fist two rays have leopoldi, p14 and pearl blood in them. Personally I have no problem with Hybrids at all, I do have a problem with Hybrids being sold as pure bred rays and screwing up the bloodlines. Just be honest about what a ray is hybrid or pure. Of course when people decide to chuck a bunch of different rays in a pond and nobody knows what is what anymore it gets difficult. But even then as long as it is legal to export rays from South America you can always replenish your stock with fresh blood. The last couple of years the rays were banned and then you face the problem that if everything gets mixed up you loose your pure lines. But even then there are always breeders that will document and structurize their breeding attempts and produce the pure lines. Personally I think we can learn alot about the species by cross breeding them, but you have to do it properly. I myself prefer pure bloodlines just because I have not come across a lot of full grown Hybrids that I like. A simple big spotted Henlei at 70 cm does it for me but to each his own. |

Yes Mark ,fully agreed with u regarding selling X bred as pure, tat is really not acceptable. As with regards to full growth super nice sp, most of these are secretly kept in the back yard of Asian Breeders esp in Thai & Taiwan. They are not being show case as it will leak out how some of their nice hybrid are being bred.
U are absalutely right abt learning more abt rays thru X breeding. We had notice many issues abt genes of pure bred rays thru X breeding. Now I realised tat western side issue abt SP is the fear of loosing the pure blood line rather than the rays itself. |
