Why use aperture f/20? open up the aperture bigger using smaller f/# to get sharper image. Use a tripod to hold your camera to provde better stability.

Are you using single AF point or multiple AF points?

With flash photography, I find it hard to control as well. A well taken one may requires more than one flash position at diff position to give good balance of light.

This is why I dun use flash for my fish photos.

It is also worth an effort to "clone" off those white debris inside the tank to make yr photo looks better.

maybe i'm a horrible photographer, i took some pictures that are really OOF, really blur. sometimes its a little wasted to get the fish into a desired angle/background/expression but turns out a little bit soft. TS pic looks focused to me, just lack a little sharpeness. while i agree that nothing beats a razor sharp pic to begin with, i will try to make my OOF pics a little less OOF. just my 2 cents worth.

I understand what you mean. I am also new to photography. We always want to showcase our best taken photos.

u just need more lights and faster shutter speed
and of cos the luck and patience to wait for the "moment"
