"If you put clear packing tape about half way up the container they can not climb on it, the surface is too smooth. And the reason they can climb the side is because their tiny feet can find the imperfections of the glass or plastic. The larger crickets body weight is too much for their feet to hold on. You can use egg crates or papertowel rolls or even popsicle sticks. You can use dirt as substrate and stand the popsicle sticks in it. "

i think i will try this out haha.

Haha I don't breed my own crickets cause it tends to get out of hand if you don't have it under control and I gotno time to care for them lol. In any case I usually keep the food in there for about 3-5 days if I plan to feed alot, butttt, I usually put enough so that they can finish everything within a day or 2 , cleaner and less bacteria

One very good and effective way of getting rid of the odour would be placing a deodorizer like the ones under the brand Ambi Pur. Get the ones which are meant for hooking up on fans. They're circular in shape and last for a very long time. They retail under S$2/ ea and can be found at any major retail supermarkets. You don't have to place them directly at the tank, just a distance from it would do. (For eg, on the wall above or at an adjacent table/ furniture). Personally i've found them very economical and effective in the long run. Fragrances comes in 3 scents like Meadow, Honeydew and the last i can't recall.

The other way you could get rid of the odour is to have proper ventilation of your setup as well as where it's been placed in your home. You might want to reconsider its placement. If it's lacking in ventilation, the odour will just linger on and stay around there.

Perhaps you could post a picture of your setup (substrate/drainage used) and where it's at in your house. At least it'll be a visual aid to a much proper response to your query.

My take on it is that if your setup has been done properly with good drainage etc, the odour shouldn't be there at all. It should be smelling like freshly dug earth.

Regards,
Phillipe

Hi, I have already taken out the substrate...now it's just bare bottom with branches and artificial leaves hanging from the top...it is placed in my living room...the smell only lingers in the setup thus I believe that the ventillatiom is bad...I will be redoing the setup soon...hoping to learn more tips to make my WTFs a more comfortable living as I believe that they would not be happy living in a smelly home...thank bro phillipe for the advice given...

Here's what i got for redleg..

Symptoms : Fungus on skin.

Disease : Red Leg, Pseudomonas, Hydrophila.

Treatment : Use the water area of a quarantine vivarium and add 0.6% SALT by volume. Make sure that the frog gets in the water often. Duration 6 weeks (refresh water often). Use a solution of 0.2% MERBROMIN (MERCUROCHROME)on areas of the frog with fungus, rinse after several minutes.

Is your frog lethargic? not eating? sleep cycle mixed up? spending/sleeping in the water dish during the day too? and what makes you think yours kena redleg bro ?

post a pic of your frog will help too =]

btw i throw in 12 crickets in each night and let them have feeding frenzy. Left only 3-4 the next day.
