Yes is possible.
1. Feed a balanced and vitamin enriched diet 2. Start doing water changes of at least 20% but not more then 50% every three days, usually 25-30% is sufficient. This is the only effective way to lower excess nitrates from the water, make sure that you vacuum the gravel at the same time, as detritus and feces can collect here without your knowing 3. Raise the temperature in the tank to 80-82° F. This will increase the fishes metabolic rate and decrease healing time. Be sure not to raise the temperature above 84-86° F as this can cause undue stress to the fish and is not productive for healing, also do not raise the temperature with out first following steps 1, 2 and 3, as you will simply cause the HITH to advance at a more rapid rate 4.Remove all carbon from your filters. This is a precautionary measure unless you know for a fact that the carbon is the main cause 5. If all else fails or for very advanced cases it will be a good idea to treat the tank with Metronidazole I feed my fish ( carnivores, omnivores, and herbivores) on New Life Spectrum exclusively. Both NLS Jumbo and NLS Exlg are floating pellets, the rest are sinking pellets. |

will try to feed with more kinda dried and frozen foods. as well as add mineral solutions like Geoliquid. 2. Start doing water changes of at least 20% but not more then 50% every three days, usually 25-30% is sufficient. This is the only effective way to lower excess nitrates from the water, make sure that you vacuum the gravel at the same time, as detritus and feces can collect here without your knowing My tank is bare.. no gravel.. now , i turn up all the wood whenever i do a water change.. to make sure that no deritus is stuck under the wood. 3. Raise the temperature in the tank to 80-82° F. This will increase the fishes metabolic rate and decrease healing time. Be sure not to raise the temperature above 84-86° F as this can cause undue stress to the fish and is not productive for healing, also do not raise the temperature with out first following steps 1, 2 and 3, as you will simply cause the HITH to advance at a more rapid rate My tank temperature is at about 30 degree celsius 4.Remove all carbon from your filters. This is a precautionary measure unless you know for a fact that the carbon is the main cause Done so.. except the zeolite.. Will be adding more media to support bio bacteria like Seachem denitrate and other stuff. So what do you think of my plans? |

So far you have done great.
My advice is drop the temperature in the tank to 26.5-27.5° C to increase the fishes metabolic rate and decrease healing time. about 30 degree celsius can cause undue stress to the fish and is not productive for healing. If you are considering using New Life Spectrum Line of food, Mr Pablo adviced was to never add any type of vitamins to his food, due to the fact that NLS already contains an ample amount of vitamins. Pablo's concern was that by adding 'additional' vitamins to his food, there was a very strong possibility of vitamintosis. Unlike water soluble vitamins (such as Vit C), excess fat soluble vitamins cannot be excreted from the body, and over time they can build up to dangerous levels. This build up of vitamins can cause a number of problems, including, but certainly not limited to, organ damage. Sometmes too much of a good thing, is a bad thing. Pablo has conducted laboratory tests that show that after 2 years, under normal room temperature, exposed to air every 3 months, the shrinkage on Vitamins A, E, and C was surprisingly low, as little as 15%. During the manufacturing process he already takes into account a potential 35% vitamin loss, so New Life Spectrum is already way ahead of the game. Please take this in the manner in which it is intended, this is not an anti-vitamin crusade, it's an anti-adding vitamins to New Life Spectrum crusade. It's not only not necessary, it could very well cause some serious health issues in your fish Good Luck to you and ur fishes. |
