bros,
now after a few days of setting 5mg ozonizer, not getting anymore skimmate again on my H&S. Got some good skimmate for first few hours after adjusting the O3 dosage, but now back to almost nothing for 2 days already (unless I set it to very wet). I am feeding the air from the ozonizer via a Y connector to the skimmer air input. the other Y-conenctor end is to a check valve (otherwise the air blows out of the other end instead of going to the skimmer). I could not maintain the airstone in front of the skimmer pump intake method as the bubbles keep getting back to my main tank (return pump sharing same compartment as skimer pump) cud it be not enuf bioload? (LS - 8 chromis, 1 clown, 1 sailfin tang, 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 sally lightfoot) (Feeding Formula 1 & 2 + frozen brine shrimp once a week + phytoplankton for some soft corals) the water in main tank is super crystal clear. Should I stop the O3 and monitor? |

Most likely the problem is that you're using the Y connector to the skimmer air input which indirectly reduces the efficiency of the skimmer by having 50% less air to it.
Suggest you can use the same method as I am doing is to place the ozone output to an airstone inside one of those inexpensive $5 airwood skimmer to prevent bubbbles spreading. Also it prevents salt spray too. Did you use a ORP controller? If yes, then there is no reason for you to off the ozonizer. This is what I am doing for another tank: |

i see. good idea bro. So in essence, you dont really need the skimmer pump to be sucking in the water with the ozonised bubble is this correct?
As long as the water around the skimmer pump has been treated with ozone (by the airstone method), it should be ok? |
