Wism,
How many CRS do you have? If it is just a couple of pieces, there is a high possibility that you can all male or all female. Sex in shrimps are not easy to be determined and that why for breeding purpose, more than 5 should be purchased to have a good chance of mix of male and female. Personally, I was a victim of unscrupulous all-male CRS seller. I do not condone such ill practices, I hope there is no such blackshrimp in our community. There are a few more reasons why CRS does not breed. PH may be a factor, keep around 6.5 to have better chance of breed. Age may be an issue, you just have to keep them for a longer time. You may want to use S-1, which claimed to improve spawning, but personally, my recomendation is to stay away from S-1. In not so ideal condition, CRS will just carry eggs for a while then drop eggs. Good Luck. Last edited by silane; 23-01-2006 at 08:23 PM. |

I have around 12 to 13 pieces now.....
Bought 2 batches.....first batch 7 pieces and second batch 10 pieces.... as time goes by...some die off.... I might need to get PH meter to measure my tank PH.... never measure at all before...... It's a comm tank..... inside is a mixture of cherry shrimp, green shrimp, and CRS.... as for cherry and green shrimp.....I have lots of shrimplet around.... and still so many of them pregnant.... |
