Better to calculate from tank size & percentage of water in it.
The forum "Quick Tank/Temp" calculator here will be usefull to claculate initial amount of salt needed

Yes, it is 7 kg if u got 1000l of water in there.
Still, we don't dump 7 kg of salt at one go
I spread it out over 3 days.
Not sure what other bros do here.

Do use a feshwater salt meter to monitor. 0.7% is quite close to 0.9%, the limit bro Ark think will stress out aro.

I assume it can be pretty stressful in there. My reds still eating at this level. Doesn't look at all affected. I'm not sure it is safe for sick aro though. I won't go beyond 0.4% if aro is sick.
Of course, it is always safer if one got good water parameters, cool temperature, & lot of aeration to start with, plus blackwater.

0.3% salt treatment is when the fish is sick or under medication. It helps with osomoregulation. Fishes with dropsy, you will have to add even more salt. At times even up 0.5-0.7%. Don't go pass 0.9% salt, because that's the physiological salinity. Anything more than 0.9%, the fish will start to dehydrated due to osmotic losses of water.i did not advised to put 0.9%

Thanks for sharing. Think it is good to know the upper limit.
Take me a few years to venture to current 0.7% level
Still no regret. At least now I know that salt is the most effective cure against parasites.

Reading this thread really pleases me to know that all the years of constant repeating hasn't gone to waste. At least there are some of you, ARK, Ken, Aroboy etc have taken a more scientific approach to fish treatment. Well done guys!

for my case with 5x2x2 + 3' sump, to do 0.3% salt treatment I need to add 1.6Kg of salt , is this correct? Even with normal 0.1% the amount need to add is about 0.6Kg! Normally I just add around 10 spoons
I got the value from the main page the tank calculator, can advice if this is correct? Do we add 0.1% salt for each WC (20% WC every week for my case).

Bro dragon ng, since you had dose the whole entire tank volume, during water change, you need to dose only the volume of water changed. Cheers.
