Tim, you mentioned your RTG is around 4 years old, if the lower jaw as shown in the your picture puffs up like a big ballon and the aro occassionally swims very fast in circles - I suspect your aro is coming of age.

This could be a male aro and fasting sometimes happens as they do not eat during brooding period. Some members here who have experience breeding may be able to give you better idea.

hi bro i did have one aro who was exactly same like ur situation. suddenly lost of appetite. mine onli eat mayb 2 mp a month. after that i got some advice from friend to buy a bottle of liquid vitamins. dipped the mp into the vitamins and feed it. it start eating again. but i dont know the name of the vitamins. mayb some bros here heard of it before?
if so pls help to identify this vitamins for this bro. might help

Thanks for the replies and ideas,

It does swim fast in circle sometime, it could very well be brooding...

But i only have one Aro in the tank....and i've checked his mouth is empty...could he be just pretending he is holding eggs??

How long will this last?? any Bros have experiences with this??

i am not sure whether its a biological cycle but 2 points here.

1. Stop changing 30% water , reduce to 2 weeks once.
2. Put active carbon to remove all medications and throw it away after 3 days.
3. Stop dosing salt
4. Use blackwater
5. Dose slowly kh + to 3.
6. Aerate strongly
