Some people told me, bettas are like human in a sense. A spawning outcome can have unpredictable results. It all depends on alot of factors. The fish have feelings too. I took out the father and he seems depressed. I couldn't bear to see him part with his offsprings. I change water for my fish everyday. I treat them like humans. When I know they are hungry, I feed them alot. They seems happy after water change & feeding. I feel happy too. Even they eat up their fries, I don't blame them. They gave birth to the babies & if they choose to eat their fries, I'll let it be. Imagine they are living in the wild, I don't think they will eat all their fries. If not, they will become endangered species.

I did not notice my copper already spawned and fries already free swimmer. When I notice it, I discovered that there is another spawn of eggs. So what I do, I scope up the eggs and use the artificial hatching method and let the male inside to take care of the free swimmer fries. Water onli 1 cm. Then, yesterday, I saw they hatch. Today, all die.. |

I have just made a new discovery. The male actually swallows about 30-40 fries and releases the fries about 1-2 minutes time. After the swallow, the fries are very keen to follow the male instead of escaping from him. I think the male is feeding the fries. In this way, I think the growing of the fries will be slower than artificial hatching but it has it's good points too.
Cheers! |

I've removed the male from the 1 week old fries minutes before seeing thread. Not sure how it'll feel.
So far no fries eaten at all. Maybe I should put it back. Have been feeding fries Liquidfry n Hikari FD BW to male. |
