bro Atom and all experts,

I like to have a arowana planted tank, do you think it is possible to have denitrator and planted tank working together?

Thanks

Why not? The best kept secret in fish keeping is to have diversity.

may I ask which type of denitrator is the best? Do I have to feed all denitrators?

You mean carbon based or sulphur based denitrators? As for feeding, it is up to you.

The main reason to feeding is to achieve optimum and constant denitrifcation process. If no feeding, the anaerobes have to search hard for food which might not be available or only in limited amount.

I never like coil type. Easily choke, low n inconsistant in performance. As for carbon n sulphur, there are both pros n cons. Generally, carbon based is the prefer choice for FW setup.

You can diy a small tee off from the main pump to the denitrator with a valve attached to control the flowrate.

Setup is similar but the feeding is entirely different. As for sulphur based, you will have to neutralize the sulphuric acid if any.
