good idea for you to seperate the tangans from the malawi tank. and remember to add substrate to your new 3ft. otherwise rock slide=tank crack.

actually should use the 4ft for tanga and 3ft for malawi. looking at the eventual size of the fronts and also the colony of tropheus you getting.

I thought of that as well, but currently I have close to 30 Malawi cichlids but around 16 tanga only, so still suggest me to switch?

Pls go to any lfs and buy some substrate....example coral sand or others. For coral sand it costs only $8~$10 per bag (10 kg). Cichlids love sand and will thrive in it.

if you ask me i would still suggest to switch. becos of the fronts.

the scaping is alright. it will get better as you go along. more worried that there is no substrate in that new tank, should the rockpile slide or fall, the glass gona get the impact bad

Agreed with Youngman. Nobody places big rocks in a clear base tank.....woods and small pebbles ok but not rocks as your base will get a lot scratches eventually and worst scenario....falls and break the glass.
