Actually, either steve is the seller or simply he got taken in by the seller. Cause the words are almost exactly what I was told when they tried to sell to me, not knowing I already have.

What is so-called special treated water? It is Decholorinated or/and seawater mix as I have mentioned here. Tell me how is it so special? Which living thing is not prone to level of "needs aeration, ammonia level, nitrite level "?? It is a matter of how much and not not at all. Which species of shrimp does not need oxygen to live? Ecosphere no ammonia, nitrite problem? Then why is filter invented, why need filter? Or you mean this wander shrimp dont shit? Or simply you dont feed the shrimp? Just to let you know, I have almost 2 thousand pieces of this "wonder" shrimp. I dont keep them in special water, I dont no filter. Their nitrate level increase if I dont change water. So why is there is the concept of "no ammonia, nitrite level etc". This is one of the tank of Hawaiian shrimp I have:
Out of 3 tanks. They are known as: Hawaiian Red Shrimp, Opae ula, Hawaiian Volcano Shrimp, Anchialine Shrimp Scientific Name: Halocaridina rubra Do not mystify this shrimps by providing them harsh enviroment for them to live it. I have already mentioned how to keep them in better way in Post #9 and #18. They are no different species when you provide them with decent enviroment and care. Actually i am confused already after reading all posts..
The type of eco shrimps i bought are from CRS Haven, they are all only 5 mm length, and been keeping them, and never grows big. No filter, no change water, no feeding, nothing at all.. Container can be opened to look inside the shrimps.. So far, all surviving.. I am not sure of actual names though.. The other shrimps are the normal ones, maybe 10-15 mm lgth, needs to change water, filter, air pump etc.. Needs to feed also, and once in a while, one or two shrimp will die.. They will reproduce also whereby the other type mentioned will never reproduce.. So i am blur already on if you all said it is exactly the same shrimp, then why all the characteristic so different ? cannot reproduce, no feeding, no air pump etc ? Anyway heard from the owner of CRS haven, that Enviroment personnel had went to visit the shop and certify it is not totally air tight, and classified it as none cruelty.. They can continue selling.. The personnel even bought some back for their homes.. |

how about food? water evaporations? there is no such things as zero maintenance. you still have to wipe off the dust on the "eco-cruelty-bottles". |

taken from wikipedia
Controversy The shrimp hobby website Petshrimp.com claims that EcoSpheres are actually highly unsuitable for the Halocaridina shrimp. This website claims that the spheres are too small to provide enough food and waste removal, slowly starving and poisoning the shrimp - although, due to the extreme conditions in Halocaridina's natural habitat, the shrimp are able to withstand several years in the EcoSphere. |

I just want to post 1 remark what the heck Got to do with environmental dept? Environment dept certify it as a non potential mozzie hassle yes I agree. But cruelty how certify by them you either is ignorant about the role of environmental dept or the boss of Crs heaven is such a good saleman. Cruelty all this time is animal right or the local SPCA etc. Not even Ava will certify such thing as liability involve. So I really puzzle and confuse also where and how they got their certification????

But as a hobbyist, we shd learn before we believe what we are told. How fast are hawaii shrimps growth rate like? In that kind of environment, I am not surprise they are almost not growing, it is like they were stunt! They can survive in such torture containers, doesn't mean they are doing well. If you done your homework, you will know these shrimps have long lifespan, are more able to tolerate harsh environment, but that doesn't mean such small spheres are good. I am not saying this lfs is no good. But these spheres are just not right! Would you be comfortable living in tiny room and just moving around in that tiny room for the rest of your life? Eat shit sleep, everything in that tiny room, without a sanitary system? Choose what we believe in, or read up before we believe what is claimed. Environment... they are concern about polution, about breeding mosquitoe. They don't know about keeping shrimps and the requirements. It is like, asking the drainage department to look into healthcare services. Why don't this particular LFS you talked about, invite world renown shrimp breeders to certified these eco thingy is good?? I stop going to this particular LFS! I used to visit them, bought some shrimps from them. Thought having shrimps in tanks to choose, paying a few extra dollars, is fine. But... paying extra is one thing, providing a condusive environment and educating people rightly is another. I will boycott anything that is not right. If the buying stops, the torture stops too.
