wow 5.0 is indeed low in ph!!! do you think this is gonna cause color runs when transfer to other tank with higher ph?

My CRS was alway at 6.X, but when I moved to 5, they didn't run color, so they are not going to run at higher pH if transfer back to higher pH, I believe. In fact, some individual will gain more color when goes to higher pH.

For the same reason, I like to keep my CRS at very low pH for color screening.

pH close to 7 give the best color.

The organic elements should refers to humic acidic and even compound that produces ammonia could be organic nature. Hence, I believe, a gravel low in organic elements does not necessary means it will have less micro-organism build up, they are separate issues.

yeah i think I will try this for my new 3 ft tank when it is ready. DO you think mixing the soil will be good?
