Yah, I think they can be together but sometimes guppies' tails got tore. It is because they are fighting or other fishes bite off their tails ? I too have a mixture of others (Discus, various types tetra, angel fish, etc), seem quite OK together except once a while you might notice the guppies' tails got bitten by whoever inside.
