I spawn some goldfishes once, they are messy fishes

the male just chase the female around, the female gets excited, squirts out the eggs and the male just release the milt behind, and the water becomes cloudy

well my fishes spawn in a 3 feet tank with no plants to lay the eggs so all the eggs stick on the floor

not very success with raising the fry, cause most died within the week

Try gently press their stomach area 2 see whether there's milt or egg come out lor. I think this method is 100%. JMO.

Hi all,

This thread is extremely useful..

I learnt from the GF shop owner in market that to differentiate male GF from female, look at the side fins. Males will have white spots (rough looking) at the sides while females' side fins are smoother and finer.

On spawning, how do you guys know which day will the GF spawn?? Can't possible wait everyday, right? I realise that my ranchu spawn quite early in the morning because most of the time, when I see it in the morning, the GF are all rushing to eat the eggs and nothing much is left.

Rgds
