Thanks bros. But I think next time can make a more realistic one. I think the next thing to improve on will be to be able to design it such that the rocks we use are similar in "feel" as the background.

[QUOTE=KawaiiBoy;6114986]Decided to share my experience in DIYing aquarium background after seeing that there is quite some interest in it in bro gtohow's thread. This is the final result. Hope more bros will find it useful and indulge in their own background making!

Yup. Can take up quite an amount of space depending on the design. But I think it is space well invested especially for Tangans keepers. Some fishes also utilize the rocky background and it makes them feel safe. |

Thanks!
Erm. Around 2-3wks. Alot of time is spent waiting. For example I may take 4hours to paint one layer of cement, but after that I have to wait for it to dry. Typically cement can dry in 3-6hrs depending on the mixture and surrounding conditions. For application of silicon to layers to make the background thicker, I waited for 24hours for the silicon to cure. For application of silicon to stick the background to the tank, I waited for the silicon to cure for 7 days as instructed on the silicon tube for maximum strength. So you can see that the working time is actually not so much. It is the waiting time that is long. |
