Hi Bro....
I'm just thinking whether anyone can guide on TVR judging? beside the swimming style, which cannot be judget thru photo.... if we can this piece as example, how would you rate it? the body size, wen, curve, shape, etc...where is good, where is bad, etc... I've read a few articles but if we can use live example with specific pointing to the fish will be easier to understand... |

Swimming is the ultimate in any ranchu judging....just like a sprinter at the starting block....you can dress nice, very handsome and muscular, but once the gun goes "bang"...the want that run the most fluid and efficient race with the best stride win. Ranchu is very similar yet different....a ranchu must swim graceful and yet powerful and different age fishes must swim according to what their age prescribe....too much to explain in a few words. Ranchu swimming is not about speed...its about balance, graceful and powerful. The 2 fishes you posted are very decent specimens...suggest you try to grow them healthy and bigger. The fishes are still young and need to bulk up as they age. Suggest you view as many videos of good fishes so that you acquaint yourselves with what a good ranchu is all about....like in here as what bro Nazari posted to share.... http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=315656 |

However, in terms of grooming...there will always be early indicators to look out. E.g. overfeed, will become.... how to observe overfeed? Which part of body will go unproportional first. in tails, how to progress, like wave, curve and eventually with more current, which part will be stronger, etc. I find that there are limited resources one grooming process, and early sign of don't's... there is no 1 size that fit all, but at least, get something to start with... I find that my keeping now is quite "blindly"....just simply pumping, and ensuring no over feed. beside this...next is constant ensuring water quality. but this is just the basic.... what's next? which is clueless... If I quote my experience with koi, at least now I can "predict" with certain confident of future, and how to tune the feed, growth, etc...to condition... and identify what "grade" of koi it is... |

Some updates...
Bigger one named as Alpha, smaller one (tail has more white) named as Beta for easy reference.
