Learning is more important than the duration of keeping. I have been keeping fish since I know how to spell "FISH" but that does not mean that I am experience at all.

Let's just learn from mistakes and know how to prevent such from happening again, to you or others.

The old chinese saying : Live till old, learn till old.

Actually, just like SARs, when one of the fish is sick, all shd go on quarantine together, unless u know that the illness will not spread, right? If not, your tank will always be contaminated and any new fishes u add in will sooner or later get the same disease.

Ya, since he had been keeping the fishes for very long, so most likely is due to chlorine/chloramine. maybe recently due to SARs, pub increase the dosage, so this time the fish cannot tahan. Never forget your anti-chlorine/chloramine whenever u change water.
