For me I think checking the anuses are sure-fire ways to check the gender, is that correct?

Males

Some noticable signs on the males are white spots, known as tubercles appearing on their gill plate. These tubercles are also present along the pectoral fins of the males. Females

I recently purchased a ranchu whose only got one noticable anal fin and no noticable.... orifice? I'm not sure if it's a he a she or an it. can anyone help?

how about taking a picture and show it to us? will be easier this way..

working on it, but i just got it and it's pretty stressed out. I wanted to wait a bit before trying to take out of tank and photograph so not to stress more.
